Easy Top Shelf Brownies

When I taught school, one of the teachers I taught with always brought the same dessert for our Teacher Potlucks. Every time we had a potluck, she brought these delicious brownies and the best part was the brownie matched the holidays! Woo-Hoo, how fun is that?  It's a 3-Step Brownie.

3 Layers. Brownie.  Icing.  Chocolate Glaze.

The brownie part is easy.  The icing part is a cinch and the chocolate glaze on top divine!

The brownie is just a box mix. Easy.  Check. You can make a homemade brownie if you want to, but hello?

The next layer is an easy icing which makes this the Holiday Dessert.  Color the icing to match the holiday you are celebrating.  Check.

The next level is the chocolate glaze.  It is made with unsweetened chocolate. It makes a beautiful, glossy topping  that will take your brownies from yum to Fantastic!!,  and make you the hit at your next potluck or family dessert.

Let's make a batch.

  • 1 Box brownie mix, makes an 8 x 8 pan

  • Icing:

  • * 2 Tablespoons Butter

  • * 1 cup Powdered sugar

  • * 1 Tablespoon Milk

  • * 3/4 tsp vanilla

  • * food coloring of choice

  • Glaze:

  • * 1 square Unsweetened chocolate

  • * 2 tablespoons butter

  2. *Prepare icing:

  3. Beat softened butter and powdered sugar together, add milk and vanilla

  4. When creamy, add food coloring of choice

  5. Spread on cooled brownie. Keep in frig while you make the glaze.

  6. *Prepare glaze

  7. Melt unsweetened chocolate and butter in the microwave in a glass measuring cup

  8. Pour over iced brownie, tilting the dish until the glaze covers surface. Refrigerate until the glaze loses it shine. Cut with a plastic knife and serve.
