Sursee Gal

Hey Gal! :: Paige Davidson

Today I wanted to introduce you to my friend, Paige Davidson.  I have admired her work for years and finally met her in her cutie-patootie store and gallery, Cahoots Handbags in Gainseville, Texas.

I first learned about her years ago when my bestie bought one of her Big Tex hand-painted watercolor pins that she found in a fun store in Ft Worth.  I was in love with Davidson's art and her jaunty air and her love of Big Tex.

When I realized that she was a Gainseville native and had a storefront, I made the Bear stop and check it out several times.  I had never met Paige in the store until one Saturday recently, on our way to Nocona, when we stopped.

On this visit Paige was there, hat on, full of smiles and laughter and life and her boutique was dreamy.  I decided to be bold and introduce myself and ask if she would be a part of my Hey Gal! feature.  She said, Yes!

Paige told us a little history of the building.  It was built in 1887 by Gainesville’s first mayor and later was home to her grandfather’s auto part store.  When Paige renovated the building, she uncovered a 110+ year old sarsaparilla mural. Epic Sursee!

The building is now home to the Cahoots Handbags studio, painting studio for Davidson, art gallery, and boutique.  In addition to the Cahoots Handbags and Cahoots Baby lines, the store showcases handmade product by local artists and friends and is conveniently located on the edge of the historic South Gainesville Neighborhood.  With frequent in-store events and trunk shows, Cahoots Handbags, invites you to come soak in a bit of Gainesville's history.

Paige and I talked all things Big Tex, the art of wearing the hat, which by the way, she was rocking and her new adventure in making pottery.  I actually was there to purchase a piece of her limited Big Tex pottery.  This was an early birthday Sursee for me.  LOVE!  Might have to keep him out all year long.

The other Sursee I have been longing for is one of her Cahoots Handbags made out of vintage fabric.

Y’all, her handbag creations come in so many colors and different sizes and shapes.  And on this day, they were arranged in a ROYGBIV rainbow on the wooden display AND she was having a little sale!

Score for the Sursee Gal.   Again an early birthday gift.  I carried my handbag on Easter, and it was gorgeous.

Easter Sunday

Follow Cahoots on IG for more peeks into all the gorgeous fabrics she uses.  Might be a perfect Sursee for Mother’s day for your Mama or YOU!

I found another little Sursee that was part of her new pottery collection.

I have a thing for lady face stuff.

My Bestie painted this for me.

So when I saw these spoons, I thought these are just the right Sursee for the right lady.

I use mine in my coffee bar.  Who wouldn’t want to use one of these?

Paige also has darling handmade cards, snazzy, arty jewelry and a darling baby section that I can’t wait to go back and peruse.

Plus we bought a painting because we love clouds and rain and New Mexico. Y'all, she has loads of beautiful paintings in all sizes.

It reminded us of the country in New Mexico that we love, and when I asked her where it was from, she said that it was from a little vantage point that I know well.  The bridge over the Rio Grande Gorge.

I could go on and on, but I think you need to take a little road trip to Gainseville and see her yourself. Or go online to her website and see all that she is creating.

Or go here to the Cahoots Handbags.

Make sure you tell her Sursee Gal sent you and let me know what treasures you find! xoxox
